Lochhill Riding School is set in the heart of South West Scotland. We offer a great deal in the way of Equestrian Centres If you are a keen rider and enjoy endurance riding, then we can offer beautiful scenic hacks with views you will never have experienced before. We have a wide variety of horses and ponies to suit all levels of riding experience. If you fancy an enjoyable hack of maybe just an hour or two we can offer some super off-road trails through the Dumfries and Galloway ans South West Scotland area, some through forestry and some through open farmland. Whatever your choice, come to Lochhill and see the wide choice of Equestrian Services we have to offer.

Lochhill Equestrian Centre

If you would like to bring your horse or pony on holiday with you, at Lochhill we have high quality stabling to offer, so while you enjoy your holiday you can bring your horse or pony with you and experience the Dumfries and Galloway Countryside on horseback through some of our trails. Some of these can be ridden from the Equestrian Centre. There is ample parking, stabling and watering facilities at our establishment, our yard is friendly and our staff are always willing to help with assistance.

Have you never been on a horse before you came to Lochhill in Dumfries and Galloway, before you leave you will probably have enjoyed the pleasure of learning what lovely creatures horses and ponies are, all with their own characters, just like humans. We offer a loan-a-pony scheme for those pony-mad children to enjoy all aspects of ponies, including mucking out, cleaning tack, riding lessons and trecks. This also gives parents a break during the holiday as this is a morning or afternoon session.

During the winter months we also arrange venues and take hacks out throughout Dumfries and Galloway and Stewartry Area. This is for the more experienced rider. All riders have to be over 14 years of age.

In our arena there is a choce of riding lessons available, with flat lessons and jumping lessons, which can be in a group or private.

When staying at Lochhill it gives the rider a chance to enjoy our scenic countryside, and enjoy spectacular views at Lochhill whilst improving your riding and having an enjoyable break.


Loan a Pony

Improve your stable management skills by enjoying morning & afternoon sessions riding and taking care of your favourite pony.

Group/Private Lessons
We can provide group as well as private lessons for both adults and children. All abilities catered for.

Carriage Rides
Carriage rides are available daily and in the nearby town of Kirkcudbright.

Advanced Riders
Lessons are available in our arena for the more experienced riders.

Hacking Out Daily
There is ample opportunity to hack using the local forest tracks. Treks are available daily for 1, 2 or 3 hours.
